Private Shibari Lessons in Leuven
We teach couples and small groups (beginner to intermediate) in our home studio in Leuven, Belgium. The space is comfortable, climate-controlled, and set up for learning, connection, and creative play.
Our lessons emphasize safety, consent, and building strong foundations that you can practice confidently at home.
Our primary language is English; we are happy to accommodate French or Dutch where helpful, but teaching and safety briefings are done in English.
What sessions look like
- Up to 4 hours a day with breaks as needed.
- You share your goals and we tailor the session to your level and comfort.
- Safety stays at the centre, we discuss consent, boundaries, and safety protocols before any rope touches skin.
- You can borrow rope from our collection, buy practice-ready rope and safety kits from us, or bring your own if you prefer a familiar feel.
- We maintain a supportive, judgment-free environment where questions are always welcome.
These sessions work well for people who want focused guidance without the pace of a larger workshop. Whether you’re learning your first column tie or refining suspension techniques, we adapt to your learning style and pace.
Who this is for
- Couples starting from zero or building on fundamentals.
- Rope bottoms who want safer body mechanics and clearer communication.
- Rigging-curious learners who want direct feedback.
- Small groups who learn best together and want room for every question.
Prefer a group workshop?
We are putting together a series of open workshops that will be announced soon. If you’d rather learn in a group than in a private session, get in touch—we’d love to hear from you and can add you to the list for updates. Email contact@tsurineko.org or message us on FetLife.

- Tell us your preferred window and we will confirm the exact slot.
Before we meet
- Share any injuries, mobility needs, or boundaries so we can plan safely.
- If you are brand new, we start with foundations and build at your pace. There’s no pressure to rush, learning rope takes time.
- If you already tie, tell us what you want to improve so we can focus the time effectively.
- We’ll discuss your experience level, goals, and any specific techniques or areas you want to explore.
- Feel free to ask questions in advance, we’re here to help you prepare and feel comfortable.
International visitors
Visiting Leuven for a short stay?
We can hold a slot while you finalise travel and share parking or transport tips so you arrive relaxed. Leuven is easy to reach from Brussels by train or car.
What we can cover
We adapt each session to your goals, but common topics include:
- Core ties, frictions, and clean handling techniques.
- Consent, negotiation, and scene structure for rope-first play.
- Spotting and avoiding common nerve risks early, prevention is always better than treatment.
- Building steady connection so both partners enjoy the process.
- Body mechanics for both riggers and models.
- Communication skills and check-in protocols.
- Safety equipment and emergency procedures.
Example paths (riggers and models)
- Rigger skills: tension control, clean extensions, tidy load paths, safer uplines.
- Model skills: body awareness, clear signalling, staying comfortable under load.
- Scene flow: pacing, check-ins, and aftercare.
- Progression: columns and laddering, partials, and, when ready, a first lift with strong foundations.
What to bring
- Rope: bring at least three 8 m lengths (5–6 mm) for consistent practice, or borrow ours.
- Safety cutter: we have plenty on site; bring yours to learn with your own tool.
- Comfortable clothing: easy movement and clear rope placement help the session run smoothly.
Our workshop curriculum
We teach the same core path in private lessons and open workshops. We treat it as a progression, not a checklist. We adapt the pace to your goals and experience.
101 — First building blocks
We start with consent and safety, then we add technique. Negotiation, check-ins, and basic risk awareness. Rope handling, hitches, and clean single- and double-column ties. Early warning signs for nerve and circulation issues, plus what to do when something feels off.
102 — Further building blocks
Skills you can practise at home without guessing. Better structure, tension control, and frictions, ways to lock rope with wraps rather than knots, including cross and reverse frictions. Simple shapes and transitions. Body awareness, how to ask for changes, and how to spot building pressure early.
103 — Applying the foundations
Putting it together into scenes and play. Improvisation with good habits, harness work, and cleaner flow. Reading your partner’s responses, pacing, and keeping the tie collaborative. Guided practice so you leave with a simple practice loop.
Extra workshops
Topic sessions, plus intro to suspension (after foundations): anchors and upline safety, load paths, lock-offs, and a clear rescue plan. We focus on safe, repeatable structure, not height.
